We hadden een goed leven in Nederland en stonden in 2020 op het punt te verhuizen naar North Carolina voor een nieuwe stap in de carri\u00e8re van Maarten. Toen Covid die plannen veranderde, besloten we stil te staan en opnieuw te bepalen wat voor ons echt belangrijk was. <\/p>\n

Twee jaar lang reisden we als gezin van Noord-Noorwegen naar Marokko. Die periode gaf ons ruimte om na te denken over een manier van leven dichter bij de natuur, met meer aandacht voor elkaar en omgeving. <\/p>\n

Tijdens deze reis ontdekten we Cantabri\u00eb.<\/p>\n

We vestigden ons in La Revilla, in een beschermd natuurgebied tussen San Vicente de la Barquera en Comillas. Nieuwbouw is hier beperkt en het landschap grotendeels onaangetast. Tegelijkertijd zagen we dat veel huizen het grootste deel van het jaar gesloten bleven. <\/p>\n

Toen we zelf een woning kochten, merkten we hoe lastig het kan zijn om een huis op afstand te beheren zonder een betrouwbare lokale partner. Er was niemand op wie we konden terugvallen. <\/p>\n

Die combinatie bracht ons op een idee.<\/p>\n

Casa Cantabria ontstond vanuit de overtuiging dat we deze leegstaande woningen weer tot leven kunnen brengen. <\/p>\n

Huizen die anders gesloten blijven, kunnen worden geopend en de basis zijn voor talloze toekomstige vakantieherinneringen. Zo ontstaat een natuurlijke balans: de eigenaar realiseert een gezond rendement en gasten krijgen de kans om Cantabri\u00eb te ontdekken vanuit een plek die als thuis voelt. <\/p>\n

Vandaag wonen wij hier met onze twee dochters en runnen we Casa Cantabria als een kleinschalig, lokaal bedrijf.<\/p>\n

Wat begon als een persoonlijke keuze, is uitgegroeid tot onze manier van werken: betrokken, zorgvuldig en dichtbij. <\/p>\n
